Good Afternoon!

Welcome to my World History Blog!  

This will be a resource for you in order to supplement and complement the work that you are doing in class and on your own!  I will be posting the mini-lessons that we do in class and you will be responsible for accessing this Blog to get the information and work that you miss if you are absent from class.  I will also be posting extra videos and resources to help you study for your tests!

World History Direct Teach Wednesday 5/1/13

Good Afternoon!

Today you are going to stay in your afternoon labs..you will need to access the two vocabulary links below.  Use the diamond puzzles and create a vocabulary list for the first two units of World History.  You can either create your list using notecards, or you can write them out on notebook paper.  Ms. Carlino and I will be pulling you out in groups of 3-4 to do small group reviews and to check your vocabulary after lunch!

WORLD HISTORY DIRECT TEACH:  IMPERIALISM

Due to EOC testing this week, and in an attempt to help us finish this unit on Imperialism, you will remain in your labs until after B lunch!

You will need to access the World History Assignments link at the top right hand corner of this blog page.  You will then need to print out the two documents on Imperialism..The documents are the Chapter 27 Reading Guide and the Ch. 28 Reading Guide.  You need to complete these Reading Guides during your lab time today.  After B lunch (at 1:15) you will report to room 102 (both classes report to 102)!

World History Direct Teach:  Industrial Revolution




Today we are starting the Industrial Revolution!  Yippee!!

Go to the World History Assignments link in the top right hand corner of the blog page.  You will need to access the Industrial Revolution powerpoint and complete the graphic organizer notes that we did in class (if you did not finish in class).  I am also adding a link to the Guided Reading Notes/Questions that I gave you at the end of class.  You will need to have the Ch. 25 Guided Reading Notes/Questions completed before you get to class on Tuesday!

World History Direct Teach Monday (3/4/13)

Good Morning!

Due to TAKS testing today, all Direct Teach World History students will remain in their labs and work on their BOK for Revolutions--Scientific & Political (Unit 6). I handed out a copy of the BOK packet to everyone last week (and I did not take them up!), but just in case, I am posting the BOK on the World History Assignment page.  Please print out the BOK and complete it in your computer labs today.  I am also posting multiple powerpoints/resources that will help you complete this BOK.  You will need to have the BOK complete by class time tomorrow.  NO EXCUSES!  Use your time today during 3rd period to work!

World History Direct Teach Wednesday (2/17/13)

Good Morning!

Well, plans have changed again!  But, we are great at being flexible, so we are just going to push on through!

We are postponing the Video Project until next week..this will give us all more time to prepare and research and work!

Today, you will have a journal assignment in class.  This journal assignment will serve to introduce into our next Unit:  Revolutions (Scientific and Political).

After the journal assignment is completed, you will be given the BOK for the next Unit.  You will need to work on the two highlighted pages.  These pages will be due tomorrow.

After lunch, you will be released back to your computer labs.  Ms. Carlino and I will be calling for students in groups of 3-4 to come to Room 102 to participate in an Oral Test Discussion.  I have posted the questions that we will be discussing on the World History Assignment page.  You will need to access those questions in order to prepare for this discussion.  This will be a major grade (and an easy way to help raise your average!) Be prepared!!

World History Direct Teach Monday (2/25/13)

Good Morning Everyone!

Today, we will be meeting in our usual groups before lunch.  If you are in A lunch, you will go to room 112 with Ms. Carlino..If you are in B lunch, you will go to room 102 with Mrs. Russell (me!).

We will be watching 2 video clips in class today.  They are examples (one professional and one student made) of the type of presentation video that you will be doing for your final project for World History first semester.  

After lunch, you will return to your original lab classrooms.  Ms. Carlino and I have meetings that we have to attend this afternoon, so you will need to go back to your labs.  I am posting 2 assignments that you need to complete in your labs before tomorrow!  

Tomorrow, we will meet in our A/B groups and we will be discussing the rubric for the presentation and assigning your topic.

Direct Teach World History Tuesday/Wednesday (2/19/13-2/20/13)

Unit 3 Post Classical Empires:  Review and Exam

Today, in your lab classes, you will be completing the Unit 3 Review and you will take your Unit 3 Exam.  The Exam will consist of 5 short answer/essay questions.  You will need to complete your Review before beginning your Exam.  You may use your review, the online textbook, or any other resources to complete the Exam.  You will need to print out the Exam questions and handwrite your answers.  NO typed responses will be accepted.  Your responses need to be written in complete sentences and in your own words.  Ms. Carlino and I are available to work with you if you need help, but you must email us to set up a time to come and meet.  The Reviews and Exams are due no later than Wednesday by 3:30.  

We will be meeting in our groups from last week today.  If your lab has A lunch, you will remain in your lab and work on the Review/Exam.  You will come to room 102 for class at 12:50.  

If your lab has B lunch, you will come to room 102 at the beginning of 3rd period.  You will go to B lunch and then return to your labs to work on the Review/Exam.

Direct Teach World History Thursday/Friday (2/14/13-2/15/13)

Unit 3 Post Classical Empires...Medieval Europe...again!

Today in class you will need to be ready to turn in your Crash Course #14 & #15 Note Packets.  You will also need to have printed out your Ch. 14 Key Terms and Concepts.

We will review the Ch. 13 Key Terms together in class, then we will take a quiz over the terms.

The rest of the class time will be spent finishing the Ch. 14 Key Terms and Concepts.  This will be due by class time tomorrow.  Also, I will be posting the Unit 3 Review..you will need to use your lab time tomorrow (or as soon as you are able) to work on the Unit 3 Review.  We will be taking the Unit 3 Test Tuesday/Wednesday of next week.

Tomorrow you will be taking the Benchmark exam.  We will be meeting as a whole group to test.  Ms. Carlino and I will let you know asap where we will be meeting to test.

World History Direct Teach 1/22/13-1/23/13

Good Afternoon!

For the past few days, we have been discussing the Conrad-Demarest Model of Empires using Persia as our example.  We have talked about and examined the conditions needed for the Rise of Empires, the Height of Empires, and eventually the Fall of Empires.  

To help you review, I have posted the C-D Model Persia powerpoint and the Chart for the Empire Model.  You may use this to help you complete your chart, if you have not already done so.  You may also use this information to assist you in your research on your assigned Empire.

Click on the link under World History Assignments.  Look for the link for the C-D Model Persia powerpoint and the link for the Empire Model Chart.

In the next day or so, I will be posting more resources for you to use in your research!

World History Direct Teach 1/17/13

Hello Group!  

We will be using this blog as a supplement to the discussions and lessons that we do in class.  It will be your responsibility to access this website and complete all of the work as it is assigned to you.  Each time you are given a blog assignment, you will be required to complete this work in your labs or at home before you come back to class!  

You will find the instructions or introduction to each assignment in a post on this page.   You will then access the World History Assignments link on the top right hand side of the page to view the materials and/or resources for the assignments.  

INTRODUCTION TO RELIGION:

Today, you will need to view the 2 powerpoints on Religions of the World, and you will need to read through the note documents on the various religions.  

Then, you will need to print out the Religions Chart and complete the chart using the powerpoints/notes.  You will also need to print out the World Religions Map and complete the map, using the resources provided, as well as any other internet/book resources you have access to.

Bring the Chart and the Map back to class at 1:15 today!! (Thursday, 1/17/13).  You will receive a completion grade for this assignment!
