WORLD WAR ONE...THE GREAT WAR

Hi guys and gals!

For this blog assignment, I want you to watch the 2 video clips above...they are short, one is 5 minutes and the other is 7 minutes.  The first video does a good job at looking the 4 M.A.I.N. causes of WWI...the second takes a better look at the affect the war had on all parts of the world...both videos were created for classroom projects by students like you!

After you have watched the videos, you will need to respond to the following question...

LIST AND DEFINE THE 4 MAIN CAUSES OF WORLD WAR ONE AND GIVE AT LEAST ONE EXAMPLE OF HOW THESE "CAUSES" LED TO THE SPARK THAT STARTED THE WAR (THE ASSASSINATION OF THE ARCHDUKE OF AUSTRIA-HUNGARY)

Good Luck!

"ISM" that Interesting?!?!

Hi Guys!

This week's Blog Assignment is a continuation of what we have done in class so far this week and what we will be finishing during our next class period.

You will need to access the "World History Assignments" link on the upper right hand corner of the main blog page.  Once you access the "Assignments" page, you will need to scroll down to the entry for "ISM's"...Here you will find a link to the chart that we started in class, as well as a Powerpoint for reference.  In class, you were given a blank copy of the chart and asked to work with a partner to fill in as much as you could based on what we have discussed and what you already know, or think you know!  Using the Powerpoint and the online access to the textbook, I want you to complete the rest of the chart.  You will need to have the completed chart ready for the beginning of our next class period...WE WILL BE USING THIS CHART FOR A GROUP ACTIVITY!!!  Remember that each of these blog assignments adds up to a major grade at the end of the six weeks! (One more note...the chart gives page numbers to help you find answers...these page numbers are accurate for the actual textbook, but not the online textbook...You will find help in Unit 7 of the online version of the textbook!)

Good Luck!

Na Na Na Na...Na Na Na Na...Na-po-leon..Good Bye!

Ok!  So I promised you guys an easy one..I am going to make good on my promise!  No long videos tonight..although I did find several really good ones :)

We have just finished the French Revolution and we are going to begin talking about the Rise of Napoleon...tonight's blog assignment is to research Napoleon Bonaparte, his youth, his military experiences during the Revolution, his rise to power, his accomplishments, his defeats, and his final fall from grace.  I want you to come up with TWO facts about Napoleon that you consider to be interesting and unique..you will need to write your response in complete sentences...

Oh, and you MAY NOT use any fact that has already been used by another classmate!  If you do, your entry will be considered VOID!  You need to be original..and in this case, it truly does pay to be one of the first to respond!

Good Luck!

THE ROAD TO REVOLUTION...PART DEUX...The French Connection..

Watch the 2 videos...they are about 10 minutes each..and they are actually pretty interesting!!!  These videos are the first two installments on the French Revolution from a History Channel Documentary and they introduce us to the major players and circumstances that lead to the French Revolution...

After watching the videos, I would like for you to answer the following questions:

1.  Describe Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette based on information from the videos..how old where they, what were their personalities like, how did France view them?

2.  What was the main reason for the "union" between Louis and Marie?  What family did each belong to and why was their marriage considered significant?

3.  How did Enlightenment ideals and philosophies threaten the "Old Regime" and the aristocracy?  Use information from the video to support your answer! :)

4.  What was the main cause of France's economic troubles? Think about the French and Indian War and France's role in the American Revolution...

5.  How did Marie Antoinette add to the economic chaos of France?  What was the nickname that the people of France gave her?

All of these questions are answered in the videos!  Use the videos as your main source!!!  Also...MAKE SURE THAT YOU ANSWER EACH QUESTION IN YOUR OWN WORDS...DO NOT COPY AND PASTE SOMEONE ELSE'S ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck and I will see you on Friday!!

THE ROAD TO REVOLUTION...PART 1

We have talked about how the ideas that were inspired by the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment led to great changes throughout the world.  After watching these two video clips, I want you to write a paragraph (in YOUR own words) detailing how the philosophies of the Enlightenment thinkers influenced the founding of our country...include in your paragraph as many examples of the Enlightenment "major players" as you can!  After you have posted your paragraph...please read comments made by other classmates and respond to their post...please be accurate, creative, and ORIGINAL!!!  Good Luck!
