THE ROAD TO REVOLUTION...PART DEUX...The French Connection..
Watch the 2 videos...they are about 10 minutes each..and they are actually pretty interesting!!! These videos are the first two installments on the French Revolution from a History Channel Documentary and they introduce us to the major players and circumstances that lead to the French Revolution...
After watching the videos, I would like for you to answer the following questions:
1. Describe Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette based on information from the videos..how old where they, what were their personalities like, how did France view them?
2. What was the main reason for the "union" between Louis and Marie? What family did each belong to and why was their marriage considered significant?
3. How did Enlightenment ideals and philosophies threaten the "Old Regime" and the aristocracy? Use information from the video to support your answer! :)
4. What was the main cause of France's economic troubles? Think about the French and Indian War and France's role in the American Revolution...
5. How did Marie Antoinette add to the economic chaos of France? What was the nickname that the people of France gave her?
All of these questions are answered in the videos! Use the videos as your main source!!! Also...MAKE SURE THAT YOU ANSWER EACH QUESTION IN YOUR OWN WORDS...DO NOT COPY AND PASTE SOMEONE ELSE'S ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!

1. From the beginning France didn't like the idea of Louis marrying Marie Antoinette, because she was Austrian. They were two teens with very different personalities. She wanted male attention, but Louis wanted none of her attention.
ReplyDelete2.They married each other to try to unite their home countries. France hated Austria, so their marriage was a pretty big deal.
3. The enlightenment challenged nobility, and the way they ran their country. The nobles probably stressed over this, which didn't help anything.
4. The wars that were being fought by the French were the biggest cause of economic distress.
5. Marie Antoinette added to the economic chaos by continuing to buy jewelry, fancy clothes, and all the other things that nobles wanted.

ReplyDeleteTHEY WERE TEENAGERS, LIKE 15 AND 16. LOUIS DIDNY LIKE GIRLS, AND SHE WAS SELF CONCIOUS. FRANCE THOUGHT HE WAS A WIMP, AND THEY HATED HER CUZ SHE WAS AUSTRIAN.
uhh... this was definately not easy...

The reason for the union, was to unite the thrones, and to help pay some of France’s debts.
3. How did Enlightenment ideals and philosophies threaten the "Old Regime" and the aristocracy? Use information from the video to support your answer! :)
The enlightenment ideas, told people to do things for themselves, figure things out, and don’t let someone else tell you what they think is real, and just follow. Do it for yourself.
4. What was the main cause of France's economic troubles? Think about the French and Indian War and France's role in the American Revolution...
The French not only spent a ton of money on the war, BUT they also LOST the war… wich hit them financially.

Marie Antoinette, added to the financial chaos by, buying A LOT of jewels, clothes, and expensive things.

1. Louis was 15 &Marie was 14. They thought Louis was a schlub &they didn't like Marie.
